“When I took a job at LIFEDesigns as a Direct Service Professional (DSP), I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had heard stories about behavioral issues, how much work it would be, how I didn’t have the patience for this job and that I wasn’t cut out for it. After a year and a half as a DSP at this company, I would like to say that I am good at my job. I wake up on days I work and I am glad to go see my guys and take them out into the community and participate in fun activities. I am happy to cook dinner for them, I am excited to see them. I love my job! I enjoy waking up on Saturdays and spending my weekend with the guys. Being a part of their lives has impacted mine in many ways. I feel more responsible, accountable, and I feel like I am finally working a job where it matters if I don’t show up. I am affecting more lives than just mine, and it is important to me that I feel like my job makes a difference. I have found fulfillment in this job, and I hope to have many more years here.” -Vanessa
“My favorite part of being an overnight Direct Service Professional for LIFEDesigns is just coming to work. When I come in on Sunday nights, my favorite customer is waiting for me. When I walk in, she grabs my hand no matter what I’m carrying and she jumps up and down screaming with joy with a great big smile on her face. This makes it worth coming to work each week: knowing that something that I have done or assisted her with has made such an impact that she is willing to give up that ten minutes of sleep to greet me at the door! Thank you, CS, for being such an awesome person: I enjoy working with you!”-Brea
