The best part of being a DSP
“I get to take care of people and help them maintain a happy and productive lifestyle. I teach others to have independence in their own lives and make their own choices.” ~Layla
“People genuinely care about each other. Whether something is personal or work related, individuals will help to make you better than you have ever been, so you can help others see the worth in themselves.” ~Robin
“It doesn’t feel like work. It feels like I’m with friends and family, having a good time in the community we live in.” ~Kristen
“I get to be part of something bigger than me, that I can lose myself in while fulfilling someone else’s goals and dreams, and still take something away for myself. It is the greatest feeling, knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of people who are historically ignored by society. By working with our clients out in the community, we’re taking part in normalizing their lives…freedoms, identities, and existence. They will never again be invisible.” ~Abby
“I make a positive difference in people’s lives, and they change me for the better. I’ve enjoyed watching people grow and become more independent to live a better life.” ~Patrick
“I get to help one of the most marginalized groups in history. The unemployment rate for people with disabilities is typically double or even triple the unemployment rate of people without disabilities. One in five people with disabilities do not have a high school diploma. Making people smile and giving them hope makes me feel like I am making a lasting change for someone in a very positive way.” ~Loudon
