The 2013 Annual Awards Ceremony was a success! With almost 300 people in attendance on the evening of Tuesday, May 21st, we filled the conference center at the Seasons Lodge in Nashville, IN. Guests included customers, staff, family members and guardians, volunteers, board members, donors, sponsors, community partners, and many others. Awards were presented and the 2012 Annual Report was presented looking back on the year past, the first full year as LIFEDesigns.

Many individuals were honored for their service to LIFEDesigns, their support of the agency and for the way they live in and contribute to the community around them. While we were only able to mention the winners of the awards at the event, we want to recognize the nominees as well. Below are the winners and nominees for every award given out at the ceremony.

Kids LEAP is an inclusive summer camp for children with and without disabilities. What makes it unique?

We want Kids’ LEAP to be the fresh, new alternative to a boring summer!

This year we are trying something new! For the summer of 2013, we are partnering part-time with the Boys & Girls Club at the Crestmont location to do some joint activities with them! We will still provide LIFEDesigns qualified, professionally trained staff to work with the children with disabilities who come to Kids LEAP through LIFEDesigns. However, this partnership will provide more than we have been able to provide in the past, allowing the program to be more inclusive, joining children with disabilities with children without a disability.

We will spend 2 to 3 days a week doing some joint activities with the Boy & Girls Club, using their facilities and resources, which are supported by their generous donors. Due to our high ratio of qualified, professionally trained staff to Kids LEAP children, we will be able to provide quality support to children with disabilities while including them in some of the fun curriculum that the Boys & Girls Club specializes in. We believe this partnership will be good for both groups, Kids LEAP and the Boys & Girls Club at Crestmont, and will help us build a more inclusive community.

LIFEDesigns provides transportation, food, supplies, space and qualified professional staff for Kids LEAP. We provide services to children with disabilities with Medicaid or a Medicaid Waiver for no charge to the families. However, there are some children that come to us who do not have Medicaid or a Medicaid Waiver and must private pay. This is usually not very affordable for them. We are asking for individuals LIKE YOU to help us provide scholarships this summer for these children to come to the 2013 Kids LEAP Summer Camp.

It is time to recognize the people who have been instrumental in LIFEDesigns’ success this past year. Have you nominated someone yet?

This year’s LIFEDesigns Annual Awards Ceremony 2013 will be held in
Nashville, IN at The Seasons Lodge in the evening on Tuesday, May 21st.

An invitation will follow shortly, but right now we need your help nominating customers, staff and volunteers for the work they have done in 2012 for LIFEDesigns.

Please review the nomination form and think about those individuals who have made a difference to LIFEDesigns. Nominate as many people as you’d like by making copies of the form, filling it out completely for each nominee, and returning it to LIFEDesigns by Friday, May 3, 2013. Remember, all nominees will be recognized during the Annual Awards Ceremony. LIFEDesigns Leadership Team, a group comprised of customers, Direct Service Professionals, and other staff members will appoint a sub-committee to review the nominations and determine which nominees shall receive the awards.
