Generator for Office: $10,000

We’ve noticed that we really should have a back up generator in case of power failure. At this time, we do not have the funds to make this purchase. This is important to us because many of our clients rely on our services 24/7, and if we were to loose power, we wouldn’t be able to be very effective in communications, and providing services.

New Fence for Rhinestone: $3,500

At our Rhinestone group home, clients are able to walk out of the back yard because the current fence is falling down and really old. We’re planning to replace the fence, and use Value Fence Company. to put in a new treated wood fence. Value Fence Company is willing to donate $500 in kind because they love the work that we do! We hope we could cover the rest of the cost of the fence with donations so that more of our resources can be directed toward providing staff supports for our clients.

Trips and Outings for Clients: $250 per outing per client

By client request, we’d like to start providing one on one staff to take people out for special events or small trips on their “wish list”. Examples of this might be: to go see the Indianapolis Indians play, go to Connor Prairie (or a similar attraction), spend the day at Holiday World, visit the St. Louis Zoo, etc. LIFEDesigns doesn’t get reimbursed for the cost of gas, tickets, or the full cost of the one on one staff through Medicaid. Your gift could allow someone the chance to have a truly unique experience. To make a gift intended for this purpose, include the note “Client Outings” with your gift.

T-shirts for the All Abilities Choir: $400

Our All Abilities Choir now has 5 scheduled performances over the next 9 months. They would love to have some matching t-shirts to wear at the performances. We are willing to put a business logo on the back of the shirts recognizing the sponsor. To make a gift for the t-shirts, include “All Abilities Choir” with your gift. Training & Support for 1 LIFEMentor Volunteer: $2,000

Help to cover the expenses of training and supporting one volunteer to have a one on one friendship with a LIFEDesigns client for 1 year. To make a gift to help with the LIFEMentor program, include “LIFEMentor” in the memo with your gift.

Maintenance Truck: $11,788

We received 2 grants from Jack Hopkins ($16,084), and Smithville Charitable Foundation ($10,000) to cover the majority of the cost of this truck. The truck will be our primary maintenance vehicle and serve all of our group homes and affordable housing locations in Bloomington and the surrounding area. Additionally, we plan to purchase a snow plow for the vehicle to service our main office as well as the housing for clients. Handling our own snow maintenance would save us about $12,000 every 3 years. We’re seeking donations to help cover the remaining cost of the maintenance vehicle. For any gift over $5,000 you’ll get your business logo on the vehicle to recognize your gift. Please note “Maintenance Truck” with any gifts intended for this purpose.

Re-purpose Highland Basement: $16,262

City of Bloomington has generously granted us $25,000 toward the remodel project. We still need about $16,262 to finish the project. We’re remodeling the basement at our Highland Group Home to create a community space for residents of Housing Options I & II (our low income housing…several of our supported living clients live there). The community space created would allow the residents to hold meetings there, could be used for tenant events, and would also serve LIFEDesigns day program and other LIFEDesigns clients by creating an art studio. The renovation will include a half bath, utility sink, and furnishings. There would need to be an accessible sidewalk with a ramp added to the entrance of the basement. Gifts toward this project should contain a note “Highland Basement Remodel”. For a gift of $15,000 or more the donor would receive naming rights for the Community Room for 2 years.
